How We Met
It was August of 2011, I was a freshman in high school, and Paul was a sophomore. I was the new girl, super shy, and only knew a couple of people. Our school was having a first week of school event and Paul came up and introduced himself. We ate lunch together, and then everyday after that. We officially started dating a month later and have been together ever since.
how they asked
I had absolutely no idea this what had been planned. See, my mom and I are wedding photographers, and capture surprise proposals all the time. This day seemed no different. We were heading to Big Sur to capture, what I believed, to be a proposal. Looking back, there were signs, but I had no clue what was going on. The day before my mom mentioned she needed to get her nails done and asked if I wanted to join her. Of course I did! My mom also had me dress up a bit so she could snap a few new head shots of me while we were waiting for the couple to arrive. Everything seemed completely normal. We arrived, got our gear set up, and she had me facing the ocean, waiting for the couple to arrive. She signaled they were coming so I got ready.
Next thing I knew there was a dog licking the back of my neck. All I could think was, “Oh my gosh, the couple brought their dog!” I slowly turned around and Paul was standing there. I was completely confused why he was there and all I could think was he needed to leave or he was going to blow the surprise for the couple coming. Slowly, I noticed he was dressed really nice and holding the leash with an adorable German Sheppard puppy I had never seen before. It all happened so fast and the next thing I knew I had a brand new puppy and a boyfriend down on one knee.
After I said yes, he brought me a bouquet of anemones, my favorite flower. They weren’t in season so he worked with a local florist (Floral Design by Reina) and had them flown in from Russia. I couldn’t believe it! He even thought to bring a box of rose petals to through in the air, a “Does this ring make me look engaged?” mug, and if that wasn’t enough, my ring was in a Mrs. Box. Holy moly, it was perfect in every way!
