How We Met
We met our freshman year at the University of Maryland. In the first week of classes, my computer broke and a friend of mine mentioned there was a guy who lived on our fame dorm floor who was great with computers. Mike came to my room, fixed my computer and that’s how we met.
We became best friends but didn’t start dating until the summer before our junior year. I visited him over the summer in Boston and he planned a romantic day for us on Block Island. I told him I had feelings for him and we began dating from that point on.
how they asked
First I asked him and then he asked me. Back story: Since I was a teenager I decided I wanted to build a headboard with my future husband-to build the bed I was going to build my family on. I decided to make the first piece of the headboard to give to Mike by collecting sticks at the University of Maryland where we met. I collected seven sticks, one for each year we had known each other and glued them to a board. In June, Mike, myself and our college friends went to stay at a house in Deep Creek lake. While there, I prepared a game for us to play. I wrote down memories from my relationship with Mike and put them in a bowl and my friends went in a circle each reading a clue and mike had to guess the memory. When we finished the game I presented him with the headboard piece and told him I was ready when he was. On November 9th mike proposed back to me at his apartment. I was reading this blog on instagram as he left the room. When he came back in, I told him I was reading a love story and he got down on one knee and asked if I would like to write our own. Now we are engaged!
