How We Met
I was born in the St. Louis area and was living at home while finishing up my student teaching. Matt is from the suburbs of Chicago and joined the military right out of high school, living in several different states before being stationed near St. Louis. When we met, we were living an hour away from each other. Somehow, we came close enough at some point to match on Tinder (a true millennial love story).
We texted for almost a month before we met in person since he was traveling for work at the time. My first instinct was to cut it off with him since it seemed like every plan we had to meet fell through. But something about our conversations made me want to stick it out, and I am so happy that I did! After our first date, I couldn’t stop smiling, and I couldn’t wait to see him again.
How They Asked
We had been talking vaguely about getting married for a while, and I knew he was planning to propose soon. When he asked me to go with him to Miami for a work trip, I had my suspicions! I didn’t expect him to do it on the first night we arrived, though! After a day of sightseeing and exploring, we went on a walk on the beach at sunset and stopped to take a few pictures (his coworker was there to snap the pics) when he got down on one knee in the water and asked me to marry him. It was the most beautiful moment, and I couldn’t stop hugging him.
