How We Met
Mark & I had known each other since the first grade when he moved to Michigan from Louisiana. We had always been friends but never made it into more than that. In the ninth grade, we both needed a date to Homecoming so Mark decided to ask me to go as friends. We ended up dating all throughout high school and even into college. We broke up for a month in college but we both knew that we wanted to be together, so after a month apart we got back together! We have been together ever since! After college, we moved to Missouri together for Mark’s job.

how they asked
One of my FAVORITE places of all time is Mackinac Island, Michigan. I have been going there since I was a little girl with my family. I first brought Mark to the Island our first year of college and he loved it just as much as I did! It has always been a place that we’ve both held close to us. Mark and I decided that we should take a trip back to the Island on our next trip home. We decided to invite both of our parents (Mark’s parents had never been). The island is completely car-free, making the only mode of transportation horse & buggy or bicycles! We decided to take a horse & buggy ride around the island to show Mark’s parents how beautiful it was. We got out at a stop called British Landing which is on this little stoney beach with beautiful blue water. Mark told me he wanted to look for Petoskey stones & wanted me to help him look. Next thing I knew, Mark was down on one knee asking me to marry him!! It was the perfect place, perfect surprise, perfect everything!! Mark & I took our first Mackinac Island photo together in the same location four years earlier!
