How We Met
Hunter and I met on Tinder (ha!) in our tiny hometown of Florence, AL in June of 2017. There was such an instant connection that by September, we both knew we’d met our lifelong match. Hunter works behind the scenes in film and TV and had been driving four hours back and forth to Atlanta from Florence for work for months, but he knew he eventually needed to move to New York for a more permanent set up. When talks of his impending move got more and more serious, we decided that I should move with him if we wanted our relationship to last.
how they asked
On December 1, we flew to NYC to scout apartments and jobs. I had never been to the city before, so I was overwhelmed and exhausted but completely awestruck. We looked at several pretty terrible apartments before getting discouraged and calling it a day. On the way back to our hotel, Hunter begged me to stop by Rockefeller Center to see the Christmas tree and after a little bit of coaxing, I reluctantly agreed. We were standing and looking at the tree when he somewhat nervously pulled me to face him and told me that he loved me and knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me.
He pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and I said Y E S as the crowd around us applauded and cheered. We were immediately congratulated and greeted by a photographer that makes his living taking pictures and selling them to the tourists in high traffic areas like Rockefeller Center. He had captured the whole thing. My fiancée couldn’t have planned it better if he tried. Hunter and I live in New York now and love every day of it and we plan to get married in September of this year!
