How We Met
We matched on Tinder! Our first date was on April 7th, 2018 and we met at a restaurant called Manolis in Salt Lake City. I immediately felt a pit in my stomach the second I saw him at the table because he was so good looking…I thought there was no way he’d be interested in me. But we ended up hitting it off and we talked all night long, we both seemed genuinely interested in each other and made each other laugh. At the end of the night he gave me a hug, patted my back, and sent me on my way into the dark street where my care was parked lol…little did I know he was nervous as all-get-out that entire night and after that went out for drinks with his friends, had a random girl slip him her number…but he threw it away. He said he couldn’t stop talking about me to his friends. I met his daughter Isabel a month after our first date when he invited me to his Army Ball. The second I saw her I fell in love with her, she was so sweet, grabbed my hand, and lead me inside to show me her toys. When we got home that night we both blurted out at the exact same time, “We should get married!”. He’s been my best friend and partner in crime ever since.
How They Asked
Before I had even met Felix I had my 30th birthday trip planned to California with my girlfriends. Felix said that he was probably just going to hang out with the guys while I was gone, but little did I know…the entire time all my friends were on a group text with him! Because they were all on a text thread with him, they always suggested that I plug my phone into the car for CarPlay to control the music and such. I obviously didn’t get it until after…if either one of their phones was hooked up I would’ve seen the texts between them and Felix. It was Friday, the day before my birthday and my friends wanted to go to El Matador Beach to take friend photos at sunset.
Still…I had absolutely no clue, I even wore the only sundress I brought, which was ironically…white. The second I stepped on the beach, I looked to my right and in the hazy distance, I immediately saw Felix. He was standing there in a white shirt…just beaming.
It felt like an eternity walking over to him…but when I got to him he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I was in utter shock, he had flown to California that day before. I was so surprised and so happy…it was perfect.
