How We Met
Drew and I met 3 years ago on a movie set in downtown Atlanta (We work in the film industry). We had been working night shoots in the freezing cold and I didn’t see him again for about 2 months on another show. At the time I didn’t want to be in a relationship and Drew had just ended a bad one. We started hanging out as friends and got closer and before I knew it I was falling in love with him. He can always make me laugh even when I want to cry and has supported me in everything. This year we will have been together for 3 years and I can’t imagine my life without him.

Over the holidays Drew and I decided it was time to plan a trip. We are divers so anytime we have a chance to head to a beach we do! I had never been to Hawaii before and found a good deal online so we booked it! A month later we were boarding a plane and little did I know that trip would change my life. We got to Hawaii late Sunday night and checked into our hotel. I had originally booked a regular ocean view room, I was talking to my mom on the phone while we were waiting for our room and didn’t realize Drew had left and come back. We got the call our room was ready and when we got there I was shocked! Drew had got us a suite! I was so excited and it had the best view of the ocean which is my favorite.
Tuesday was our first day of diving. I couldn’t wait to get in the water and see what Hawaii had to offer. I recently lost my grandfather who I was very close to. I asked my grandma before we left for the island if I could take some of his ashes with me and put them in the water before we go diving. We got to the dive spot and got ready to get in. I grabbed my little bottle of ashes and took him with me, right before I got in about 40 dolphins started swimming by the boat so I knew it was going to be a great dive! After being about 80’ down and seeing two Tiger Sharks it was time to go back to the boat. One of our dive masters motioned to me to come over to her. I just thought she found something cool and wanted to show me.
When I got closer to her I noticed that Drew was on both knees in the sand holding what looked like a sea shell. Drew knows I love shells and always take a few from the dive trips we go on. When I got down to him we locked eyes. He looked at me and then looked to his hand, when he opened the shell I was in shock. There was the most perfect dark blue sapphire engagement ring!! It was everything I had dreamed for! I started crying underwater and shaking my head yes over and over again. Drew had been planning this for 2 months and everyone on the dive crew knew. He had a underwater photographer there and everything! It was the best dive I have ever been on and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
