My fiance’s name is Matt and he is my absolute best friend. Matt and I met at a time when we both needed someone truly special but didn’t realize it. Four months prior to getting engaged, I was diagnosed with a rare heart condition, lupus and connective tissue disease. It was absolutely devastating. I gave Matt every chance and opportunity to get out of our relationship because I didn’t want to be unfair to him. I had to remind myself that Matt didn’t sign up to be my caretaker and I couldn’t be selfish with him. However, no matter what I said or did, he loved me harder. Matt took me to every single one of my medical appointments and is my biggest cheerleader. We got engaged on a beautiful August day in Stillwater, MN. Matt, I and our friends Amanda and JP had drinks and were on our way to dinner. We had some time to spare so we decided to walk up this beautiful flight of outdoor stairs. These stairs led up to the most breathtaking scenic view that overlooked the river. As Matt and I were taking in the view, I heard my favorite song being played behind us. (All My Life-by K-Ci and JoJo) I looked back at our friends to see why they were playing music. When I turned back to look at the love of my life he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. Matt had the most stunning ring that I have ever seen in his hand. Every word that came out of his mouth couldn’t have been more perfect. Without even realizing what I said, I asked Matt if he was sure?! The look he gave me gave me all the reassurance I needed.Of course with tear filled eyes and my heart exploding with love, I said, YES! It was a perfect proposal on the most perfect day.
