Aly and Andrew's Proposal in Maui
How we met: Andrew and I met when I started working at the gym he frequented. I teased him and said his shoulders were too big for his body and maybe he should consider looking into some personal training haha. Little by little he warmed up to the annoying girl at the gym and we became friends. I didn’t even know what his name was for a while because I just called him “Shoulders.” Pretty ridiculous. I was the one who asked for his phone number, his Insta, and when it came to our first date… I asked him to ask me out. Yes, I was forward. No, I don’t regret it. Two weeks after our first date, I called my mom and told her I was going to marry him. She said I was crazy….
how they asked: Right after our 6 month anniversary, we went on our first vacation to Maui. Just a couple of days into our trip, he woke me up at 1:30 in the morning to drive to the other side of the island. We arrived at the top of Mt.Haleakala around 4:30AM and hopped out of the car to find a good spot to watch the sunrise. We ended up in a little corner, sorta tucked away from where everyone else would be watching the sky change from blue, to purple, pink. It was freezing, but it was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen. The sun was about to rise when he asked me to take more pictures of the horizon. Little did I know, he was only distracting me so that he’d get a chance to hand his cellphone over to the guy standing next to him. On the screen was a note that said, “Can you please take a picture with my phone when I propose to my girlfriend?” At 5:30 in the morning, right before the sun broke…He told me he loved me, told me wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, then he got down on bended knee and asked me to marry him. I had no idea he was going to propose but I couldn’t have imagined a better way for it to happen. My mom was right, I’m crazy. I’m crazy about this man and as it turns out, he’s pretty darn crazy about me too.
