How We Met
I met Dylan through his brother, Colby. Colby and I were in college together in Pennsylvania and Dylan was off chasing his dream of snowboarding in Colorado. Dylan would come visit Colby throughout our 4 years of college. Finally, the last year of college, he asked for my number and we hit it off. We started dating December of 2017 and it has been a whirlwind ever since. From Colorado to Pennsylvania and back again we have endured the struggles of long distance and against all odds made it work.
We are both back in PA now, with me teaching and Dylan starting his own business in real estate investment.
How They Asked
Hanging Lake, CO.
We were on a week-long vacation in Colorado, where Dylan spent 5 years of his adult life chasing his dream of being a professional snowboarder. He brought me to his favorite place, Hanging Lake. He wanted to get some pictures of us at sunset, so naturally, we got there 2 hours before sunset. With a chill coming in and bugs everywhere, we ended up hanging out in the truck until sunset. We sipped wine and reminisced on our long-distance relationship and how we made it here. All the while (with no cell phone service) Dylan was trying to communicate with his friend and photographer, Chad Otterstrom, who was waiting for us at the lake. Dylans “bathroom trips” were actually short runs to go update Chad. I was a little suspicious but didn’t suspect a professional photographer waiting for us.
Around 7:30 pm, we left the truck to go snap some selfies of us at the lake. Dylan set his camera up on a rock and we posed. Just as I thought we were about to leave, he pulls a GIANT box out of his back pocket. My first though “how did I not see that?!” He said, “Phoebe, I love you so much and I want to spend the rest of my life adventures with you. Will you marry me?” After I shouted, “YES!” I took one look at the ring and all I could say was “Stop…. stop…. stop” It was exactly what I wanted and dreamed of.
After we hugged and kissed, he pointed out his friend Chad sitting right behind us snapping pictures. We laughed, cried, and kissed. It was the best day of my life.
