How We Met
My fiance and I first met a little over two years ago through mutual friends at a Halloween party. We hit it off immediately, and we both knew pretty quick that we had found the One. Our relationship has been long distance since the day we met. My fiance plays baseball, so when we first started dating we took turns traveling to see each other on the weekends. In October, my fiance got a huge opportunity to play baseball in Australia. I am in medical school so I planned a trip to visit on my Christmas break. On January 2nd, I got the surprise of a lifetime.
how they asked
My fiance planned a whole day to go visit a botanical garden and then a nice dinner that evening. He told me to dress nice that morning so we could get cute pictures at the gardens; we’re definitely the workout wear on the daily couple. We started driving to the botanical gardens and my fiance had a pretty elaborate plan to make sure I had no idea what he was about to do. We used the GPS to the highway even though the backroads were far quicker; and then, we got “lost” trying to find where we were supposed to meet his host family. We finally get there and meet up with his host family that apparently was out running errands beforehand. We start walking into the gardens and I see this beautiful gazebo decorated with flower petals, pillows, and champagne.
I immediately thought “Oh that’s so cute, someone’s getting engaged!” Little did I know that someone was me. My fiance grabs my hand and starts walking me toward the gazebo. Once we get to it, he asks if I know how much he loves me and shares his favorite memories of us. Then, he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I was so excited I started crying to the point I could barely say yes. As soon as I had the ring on my hand, my fiance told me he had a photographer up the hill that photographed the entire proposal from the moment we got out of the car. Of course any proposal is perfect, but this was extra special being all the way across the world!
