How We Met

Mario and I met at his mother’s house! I know, I met his mother first before laying eyes on him at a gathering with other friends and family.

How They Asked

My parents are divorced and on my 24th birthday (June 14th) it would have been 3 years exactly of my mother being deported and in Mexico. Mario wanted to make sure this year was extremely better on my birthday! Mario made sure my aunt’s, sister and dad with my step-mom were there to celebrate what I thought was just a birthday party. Little did I know everyone was in on my proposal, mind you not Mario had asked for my hand in marriage months before this. I am really into scratch-off’s from the lottery and as everyone was giving me their gifts Mario first gave me a box, which had bracelets then a scratch-off, I began to think it was those prank one’s where they indicate you’ve one LOTS of money, but no as I started see the big W and YOU I began to nervously laugh and cry, as the emotional human I am, I didn’t even finish scratching the whole box by when he got down on one knee and said some of the sweetest things finalizing with a “te quieres casar conmigo?” (Will you marry me) I did pause for a second as being in shock but of course I said yes!!! Everyone was so happy and then told me they knew, but I still didn’t hold me back from crying more wishing my mother was there to share that moment with me. This entry caught my eye simply because I feel it is a great way to get my story out and make it known to other brides they are not alone, not having your mother by your side is tough in events like this, but we will strive and have a beautiful wedding!
