How We Met: How we met: We met in January 2012 when we were both part of a co-ed lifegroup through our church. I have heard of Nate but never really payed attention. That summer we both went on a missions trip to Ukraine to love on orphans and noticed that he is one sweet and cute guy who loves soccer. After the 2 week camp, Nate went back to the States while I stayed for another camp and after that did some traveling to Paris and Italy with a few girlfriends. It wasn’t until after the trip when we started getting to know each other and hanging out. November 25, 2012 is the day Nate asked me to be his girlfriend. I said “yes” and the rest is history :)
how they asked: A few days before the proposal, my sister Karina asked me if I could take pictures of her and her boyfriend before he left to San Diego for training. June 1st came and we got ready to go up near Bass Lake where “Nick was going to meet us”. As we were driving up there it ran through my mind that Nate could propose but then I said to myself that it wouldn’t happen because Nate had a work meeting that night. As we’re driving through this beautiful forest I see 2 cars like his best friend’s and his brother’s and that’s when I start to freak out but trying to stay calm. My sister kept driving past the cars, so I was really confused as to why she didn’t stop and park by the cars. Eventually, she had to make a u-turn because the “road” basically ended. We come back and park and then I see my cousin walking with his camera gear, and at that point I knew what was about to happen.
Excited and anxious we walk over some tree stumps and I see everything set up so beautifully! Nate and I hug, he gets down on one knee, asks me to be his bride and says some other things I don’t remember, I say “yes” and now we are GETTING MARRIED! We take pictures and head home to where my family and our friends were waiting to celebrate with us!
Nate did an incredible job creating and planning the most perfect and special proposal. We are so grateful to God for His perfect timing and our wonderful family and friends who helped make this joyful day happen!
