Pamela and Nathan

Where to Propose in Rome, Italy

How We Met

Nathan and I met in New York at St. John’s university during our first week of junior year. We both had signed up to Art class and a week into it I decided to drop the class because I was dreading the schedule. Finally, after dropping the course, my advisor suggested that I reenlist as that was the only elective available and would eventually be required for graduation. Although I disliked the schedule I decided it was best so I attended class. Nate showed up to class about a week after that. I still remember when he walked in to class, he had this messy curly hair and very laid back attitude. He asked to sit next to me and 7 years later, here we are.

It has been 7 years of growing, learning and loving each other.

Pamela's Proposal in Rome, Italy

how they asked

Nathan and I had planned our trip to Italy months ago. We were very excited to be able to experience Italy and had plans of starting in Rome and working our way down to Sicily. I was very excited for this trip but I had no clue about his plans. Unbeknownst to me, Nate had spoken to my mom prior to heading to the airport and had shown her the ring so my family knew that he would be proposing in Rome. We stayed in Rome our first 3 nights in Italy. On our last day in Rome, that Friday morning he told me we would go to the Colosseum and take some nice pictures. He had coordinated with a gentleman (Wesley) where we were staying to help with pictures and videos while he proposed. I noticed Nate was being weird that day, mostly nervous, but I was in Rome and was excited about pictures. Once we got to the Colosseum, he said “this will be a nice spot, let’s ask someone to take pics.” Before I could turn around to ask someone for a pic, a random guy says “do you want me to take a picture?” I thought it was weird someone would offer but I started posing for a pic, Nate was so nervous. Then I hear the gentleman say “ok I’m recording”, that’s sort of when I knew something was happening. Nate started off by talking about Rome being the eternal city and felt like it was the perfect place to ask me to be his wife, that’s when he got down on one knee and proposed. I was in so much shock that I couldn’t find the words so I kept nodding yes and that’s where Wesley says “we’re waiting for the answer.” It was such a magical moment and I still get goosebumps every time I watch the video. Everything I dreamed of became reality in the eternal city.
