How We Met
Chris and I met online in September of 2016. We met on a dating app called OkCupid. He messaged me first on the app. He and I messaged back and forth when suddenly I stopped responding to him. I honestly am not sure why I stopped responding other than I was new to dating apps so all the messages got overwhelming at one point. Ha!
A month or so later went by and he messaged me again on the dating app. He straight up asked me for my phone number. I gave it to him and we began to text non-stop. The next day after we started texting, Chris and I had our first phone conversation. It was the best first conversation ever! No awkward movements, no silences, just lots of laughs and getting to know each other.
I was in my second year of law school at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL at the time. While he was back in South Florida in Pembroke Pines. I luckily also lived in Pembroke Pines when I wasn’t up in Gainesville for classes and knew I would be moving back home once I graduated. We met in person in November of 2016. We dated non-stop for about 9 months. Chris asked me to be his girlfriend on July 1, 2017, and the rest is history ❤️
How They Asked
On Sunday, April 11, 2021, Chris popped the question and asked me to marry him! The weekend before he had just surprised me with a tour of our new apartment so I had a feeling this moment was happening soon but you never quite know when. However that Sunday I woke up and got dressed thinking not much of it. I get into his car and see him so nicely dressed and my heart was racing. All I kept thinking was, “Oh my God is this moment finally here!?”
As we were talking throughout the car ride, he didn’t tell me where we were going. Instead, he asked me to close my eyes! I kept my eyes closed for about 30 minutes or so. Then finally we arrive at the location. It was a beautiful spring day. He helped me get out of the car and walked with me (eyes still closed by the way which is very hard to do in heels haha). He then told me I could finally open my eyes. I saw so much beautiful nature around me.
As I walked up the steps I then saw someone taking a video and a photographer. I then saw the words will you marry me and roses everywhere! The roses were in the shape of a heart and we stood inside of the heart. He expressed how much he loved me. I expressed how much I loved him.
We both couldn’t help but cry. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the easiest yes I ever said. The day was so perfect and we cannot wait for our love to grow even more and to see what the future holds!!!
You. Me. Sí.
