How We Met
John and I met by pure chance on a cold winter day at a Starbucks on the upper east side of NYC. I was sitting alone at a table, drinking coffee and wasting time until my meeting when out of nowhere this guy comes up and asks if he can sit with me. Being that the room was crowded and there were only a few empty seats, it didn’t surprise me someone wanted to share my table. Without really looking up from my phone I said, “Sure, go ahead”. Within a few minutes, he struck up a conversation about what he was eating and I looked up quizzically wondering why he was talking to me, and when I saw his face and how handsome he was, I was smitten. The rest, as they say, is history!
How They Asked
We had just moved to his hometown of Nashville, TN. My parents were visiting for July 4th weekend and unbeknownst to me, they were all in on the plan! We went to a vineyard for an afternoon of wine tasting (socially distanced, of course because, COVID). After an hour of being there, it started to drizzle and we decided to wait it out in the car. John was adamant we couldn’t leave yet and that the weather would clear and he was right!
Just before the vineyard closed, the sun peaked out and with virtually the whole place to ourselves, he suggested a walk to explore the vines. Along the way, he asked someone to take our picture. As we were posing for our picture, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! It was everything I could have wanted and more! We came home to a surprise engagement party hosted by my future SIL that was the perfect celebration. It was truly the most special day!
