How We Met
We met when I was 15. We shared an instant connection and began dating pretty quickly. We spent about three years together, inseparable and madly in love. After those three years, we decided to go our separate ways in order to learn more about ourselves and experience life on our own. Over the years, we kept in touch and certainly never fell out of love. Eight years later, after learning about ourselves and figuring out what we want in life, we reconnected. Jake, being enlisted in the Coast Guard was living in Virginia at the time we began dating again. We spent hours a day on FaceTime and Jake always made the effort to drive 9 hours home to see me (almost every two weeks). Jake was my first love and we’re beyond thankful this crazy life brought us back together.
how they asked
About six months after Jake and I began dating again, Jake was home on leave after his deployment and took me to Mystic, CT to celebrate my 26th birthday. That Saturday, August 18, 2018, Jake asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes. He was able to capture the moment by asking someone to take a picture of us by the water. They in Ironically, he asked me to marry him in front of a Coast Guard Memorial. Two minutes after he proposed, it began pouring. It was beautiful despite the weather. I cannot wait to marry my best friend and my first love.
