How We Met
My fiancé and I are what you would call high school sweethearts. Met at 4 years old on the first day of school, in the same prep class with half of our bridal party, and became inseparable at 14 years old. We were those “best friends” that acted like a couple and everyone knew it was only a matter of time when we would end up together.
No matter where our lives took us, we somehow always found our way back to each other. At age 21 we finally decided we were ready to take the next step in our friendship and started dating and almost four years later, it has truly been the most incredible journey and we’re so excited to start the rest of our life together.
How They Asked
On the 28th November 2020, on our little getaway across regional Victoria, he told me we were only going for dinner and we would head to the lighthouse first to take photos (nothing out of the ordinary)… Whilst everyone told me “any bet you’re going to get engaged” and I knew it would be coming soon as we spoke about it all the time, I didn’t think he’d be able to fool me and honestly thought I would know the exact moment when it was going to happen. When we arrived at the lighthouse he started to act a bit strange, but I still didn’t think anything of it.
As we hopped out of the car I started to see a photographer taking photos of us and candles and flowers everywhere with the most extraordinary setup. I turned to my fiancé and said “oh crap I think we’re hijacking someone’s proposal”…. It was the biggest shock of my life that not only did he manage to surprise me but he also planned such an incredible proposal without me having a clue. He was playing one of our favorite love songs as we were walking down and the sun was setting, and to top it off my family was watching on FaceTime. It was the greatest moment of my life.
