How We Met
Working for the government brought both of us to Washington, DC. After an on the job injury, Chris called me to see how I was doing and asked if I would like to meet him for a drink since I was out of work. Though I very much wanted to say yes, I told him that I appreciated his concern, and I don’t date co-workers. That didn’t stop Chris. Over the following weeks, he visited me, took me out as “friends”, and it very soon turned into something more. We couldn’t stand to be apart. Less than 6 months later, we adopted a rescue puppy, and I moved into his apartment. Chris introduced me to his wonderful son, we adopted another rescue dog, and we have all been inseparable ever since. To this day, I am so thankful for Chris’ persistence.
how they asked
On December 3rd, 2017, Chris and I had tickets to attend A Christmas Carol at Ford’s Theatre in Washington DC. It was the fourth year in a row; a tradition we look forward to every year. Before the performance, Chris told me that we had reservations for dinner and drinks at one of our favorite tapas restaurants, Barcelona. When we arrived, the waiter escorted us to our table, and as he took my jacket I turned around to find Chris on one knee! I had absolutely no words, other than “YES”, of course!
The tears in Chris’ eyes as he stood up and kissed me will be a memory I will never forget. I was so truly happy I could barely eat! Our waiter popped a bottle of champagne and the entire restaurant cheered. Everyone could see the love Chris and I have for each other in our smiles. We arrived at Ford’s Theatre later that evening and watched an absolutely wonderful performance. We have already purchased tickets for this year, as it will be an even more special tradition for us to enjoy.
