How We Met: Nick and I met at Oregon institute of Technology at the beginning of the school year 2010. He had messaged me a couple of times on Facebook but I never went to actually hang out with him. I had a boyfriend at the time so I wasn’t interested. So time went on, we were both in our programs studying at school. Apparently this whole time he still had a huge crush on me.
Then when we were both on our externships (Nick was at University of Washington in Seattle and I was at Legacy Emanuel in Portland), he messaged me asking what the name of the girl in my program was at his hospital. I knew this was some way to start up conversation with me because there wasn’t a girl from my program at his hospital! So for the rest of extern, he would text me and I would reply off and on because I was busy with school. Towards the end of the year, my mom and my friends noticed whenever I would text him I would get a big smile on my face. And they would ask me about it and I had no idea I was smiling! So eventually he asked me if we could meet up and I told him we could hang out in Klamath while we were there for graduation!
So finally we all go down for graduation rehearsal at OIT and we sit down in our prepared areas and come to find out he’s sitting right infront of me! I had no idea! I got so nervous and eventually he turned around and we said a few words. Then fast forward to the nighttime I was out with my friends at the local martini bar and next thing I know Nick and his friends walk in! Boy did I get nervous. They went all over to talk to other people they knew and then I saw Nick look at me and right then and there I knew this was it! So he came over to talk to me and it was just so easy to have a conversation with him! It’s like we have had known each other our whole lives.
And we went on our official first date that next Monday in Portland. We went to dinner and talked about anything and everything and next thing we knew, 5 hours had flown by! He is the sweetest, most caring person I had ever met and I knew right away I was the most luckiest girl in the world! :)
As time went on and our relationship grew, we both knew we were each others’ soul mates! But I never expected him to propose to me on the day that he did!!
how they asked: It all began with me traveling up to Seattle to visit him for a couple of days. It was a beautiful sunny day so I wanted to spend as much time as possible outside! And so we did! Then Nick told me he wanted to go to this fancy restaurant at Alki beach in Seattle and I thought this was an awesome plan! We drive over there and stop by this little park that over looks downtown and he says lets go on a little walk and I obviously agreed because it was such a beautiful day! We then go to sit on a bench with the water in front of us and the sun shining on downtown. Next thing I know Nick wanted to stand by the water to take a picture! And of course I follow him. Then he says he has a video to show me and it starts to play.
The video is the most perfect thing I had ever seen! It was pictures of us and then he had video recorded the places we had our first date, first kiss, and first “I love you”! (I started to tear up at this point). The video continued on with a bunch of video clips of us on all these different adventures we had been on!!! Then he wrote in the video that he had something very important to ask me, but he had to ask some people first, and all my friends, and his friends and family were holding up signs saying yes!!! And the very last people was my brother and my nieces, and then my parents. I absolutely lost it at that point! I thought that was the sweetest and most caring thing I had ever seen!!
Then I went to look at Nick and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry me!!!! Of course I said yes!!!!! Then to add to all of that perfection, he hired a photographer to capture the moment so we could cherish it for the rest of our lives!!!
I never imagined anything more perfect than how they asked! I am so thankful and lucky to be marrying not only the man of my dreams, but my best friend. Nobody else in the world knows me as well as he does and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him! :)
