We met in high school about 7 years ago through a mutual friend who is now going to be a best man. We would see each other in person around town and he was always too shy to say anything to me. We texted back and forth for a few years and made plans but they never came through. Finally, in 2016 we went on our first date on his 21st birthday. We have been together ever since!

How They Asked

Isaiah had purchased the ring awhile ago and had plans to propose at my family vacation in August. Because of everything happening, he decided to do it much sooner than planned! During the second week of the Covid-19 quarantine, I began to get anxious and restless with him not being home at night and with the news stories that were emerging. He told me he was going to send me on a scavenger hunt to get my mind off of things. There were a series of riddles that had me going all over the house, that included getting to know a little of his family history (which I was completely clueless about) then to places like where we had our first and second dates. Then, ending at my family’s house where he had me put together all of the riddles to spell out “Will You Marry Me?” What I thought was just an activity to keep my mind off of reality and keep me busy for a few hours, turned out to be much more.
