Attending a New York Bridal Fashion Week Show: Bridesmaid Trends for 2020

Hi all! Courtney Jenney here – the Community Coordinator for How They Asked! Last week, Kathryn Eder, our Associate Marketing Manager and I had the opportunity to attend a New York Bridal Fashion Week show! (Eep, SO exciting!).

On Monday October 7th, we attended The Dessy Group Runway Fashion Show. After the immediate panic of a delayed subway, we *finally* made it to the venue that the show was at! While we’ve heard horror stories of fashion week shows starting late, we were instantly greeted, seated, and the show began right on time!

The show was absolutely stunning – there were unexpected moments and so many breathtaking pieces! There were quite a few bridesmaid trends that Kathryn and I caught on to and we both think they’ll be huge in 2020.

(Enjoy our high-quality iPhone pics!). ;)

Trend 1: Bright Colors

For a while there, it seemed like neutrals had taken over. While we’re a sucker for a gorgeous muted color palette, there’s something so fun about your wedding party dressed in color! From bright yellows to pinks, expect to see quite a bit of color in 2020!

Trend 2: Satin

It seems like satin is making quite the comeback. From silky midi-skirts to satin blouses, we’ve been seeing this material all over the runway. There’s nothing quite like a satin silhouette.

Trend 3: Sequins

It’s been a while since we’ve seen sequins styled – but we’re happy to announce: they’re back. While we have to admit, hearing the word “sequins” makes us nervous – but we’re here to let you know that The Dessy Group knows what they’re doing. Seriously, the sequin gowns that we saw on the runway were perfect… Attending a black-tie wedding in 2020? We wouldn’t be surprised if the sequin trend made an appearance! ;)

Thank you SO much to The Dessy Group for having the both of us at your show! You sure know how to make a Bridal Fashion Week first-timers experience a great one.

And thank you to Badgley Mischka for making sure both Kathryn and I had the most glamorous shoes at the show! (Kathryn went for a chic black heel look, and I styled these gorgeous sparkly flats!).
