How We Met

I had seen Nick around our community and always thought he was cute. I had even met his auntie and talked about working for her (without even knowing their relationship). I was always so nervous to talk to him, so I never did. In the summer of 2016, I signed up to take an Assyrian Language class and guess who was there! I was so nervous. Nick started making jokes in front of the class and I made sure to laugh out loud at them so he would notice me haha! I guess it worked because a week later he asked me on a date. We connected over our love for Jesus, sports, and family. On our first date, I knew God sent him for me and that we will spend the rest of our lives together. Less than one month into us dating he asked me to be his girlfriend and two years later he asked me to be his wife. This picture is on our second date at Sunny Cove, the place where Nick proposed a couple of years later 😍

How They Asked

Nick and I have our favorite spot in Santa Cruz, CA; Sunny Cove. We go there for Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, or any chance we get. We made it a tradition. Every time we go, we grab Togo’s and a blanket and sit on the rocks and admire the beautiful ocean. On the day Nick planned to propose I didn’t have any idea what was happening because it was part of our normal routine, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Like we do, we grabbed Togo’s and a blanket. But, looking back I should have picked up on the signs. My mother told me to get my nails done (thankful I listened to her) and when Nick picked me up he was recording every step of the way to the sunny cove. He was so calm the entire time. Once we got there we set up our blanket and started eating.

After, Nick said he wanted to do a time-lapse with his GoPro and wanted me to stand at the edge facing the water (you can see it in one of the pics). So I was standing there facing the ocean and Nick comes and puts his arm around me and starts reminding me of the day we first met😭 the rest was kind of a blur because I started realizing what was happening, thank God Nick had a recorder in his sweater pocket so now I can listen to his proposal anytime ♥️ I remember shaking and crying. And props to Nick for kneeling on the rocks! It was the most special day! Oh, and of course I said YES a hundred times over to the love of my life at our favorite spot! 🥰
