How We Met

Eddie and I met through a mutual friend 4 years ago, he’s our guardian angel, the story goes…

One afternoon after a weekend of partying and a few beers in, Eddie’s best friend Hayden, who I had met through another friend, was going through Instagram liking my posts himself, which I didn’t respond to. Hayden, being cheeky as he was so well known for, then said to Eddie ‘You have to follow this girl’. After a few weeks, Eddie got the courage to ‘slide into my dms’ we started chatting, at the time Eddie was based in Melbourne and me in Sydney. Prior to this, my best friend had been pestering me for a girl’s trip to Melbourne (now I finally had an excuse to go). 2 weeks later Eddie picked my best friend and me up from the airport and the rest was history.

Australia day, 26th Jan 2015 – we lost Hayden to depression, today we think of him as our guardian angel. Through many ups and downs, we’ve had it’s all always worked out because we have each other. We’re thankful every day we had Hayden give us a push in the right direction and know he’s watching us and giving us helpful hints on our journey together.

how they asked

My girlfriends and Eddie had secretly organized a casual night of drinks and dinner for “a girls night out”. My girlfriends and I went for drinks on the harbor, the heat was unbearable! Then it was suggested to have dinner on the other side of the harbor, I objected to this but lost to the majority (now I know why).

Where to Propose in Sydney, Australia

We jumped in the taxi and arrived at a park about 200m from our actual destination and I started to complain about the walking distance. One of the girls suggested an impromptu photo shoot at the park, ‘why not, were all together’ she said. As we walked through the park, Eddie’s older brother Barry popped up from behind a tree and in shock, I squealed then laughed.

He does security work not far from where we were, so I had assumed he was quickly grabbing dinner. ‘Are you having dinner here?’ I asked and his facial response was confused as he held his arm out and said laughing ‘will you take my arm?’. We then continued to walk and I saw Eddie there, standing among a gorgeous arrangement of candles, flowers and rose petals with a backdrop of the Sydney Habour Bridge, it was absolutely beautiful.

As I walked over, he got down on one knee. No surprises I said ‘yes’! We were surrounded by our family and friends which was beautiful, we all had champagne to celebrate. Thank you to my friends and my proposal co. for helping Eddie pull off a perfect proposal.
