How We Met
Bryson and I had first met in 2011, we both had worked at a local Oahu restaurant called Zippy’s. At the time, I was 19 and he was 18. On his first day of work, I never thought anything of him. I clearly remembered saying to my girlfriends “he’s cute. But he ain’t all that”. A couple of months later we started our relationship and fast forwarding 8 years later we are not finally engaged! Who knew I would have met my future husband during our college part-time job!
How They Asked
On May 31, 2019, Bryson told me he wanted to take me out to dinner to celebrate my 28th birthday. As we were walking to dinner he wanted to take photos, which was odd because he never likes to take pictures so I was confused by it. As we took a photo, he grabbed both my hands and little did I know he was about to propose.
At a distance I could hear someone singing as I looked up I saw his cousin playing guitar and singing the song “Speechless” by Dan & Shay. I was so surprised. I was even more surprised to see both our families walking towards us to witness this moment.
The biggest surprise was seeing my brother who flew in from San Jose! Little did I know, that Bryson had pre-arranged everything months in advance for this moment! I literally was left speechless, and there was no doubt in my mind my answer was always going to be a “YES!”. Who knew a birthday dinner would turn into a surprising proposal family affair!
