Nadia's Proposal in La Vie Restaurant & Lounge, 88 District Square SW 5th floor, Washington, DC 20024

How We Met

We met in Washington, D.C. over three years ago at a date auction charity for the Leukemia Society. This was a unique charity event where eligible bachelors and bachorettes were being bidded on for a date. Nick reluctantly volunteered to be bidded on after pressure from his friends and I was mere an attendee of the event. That night, I didn’t bid on anyone and Nick ended up having someone in the audience bid on him for himself. Our paths did cross that night when we met after the bidding portion of the event ended. The rest was history and we were just recently married on February 17, 2019.

How They Asked

Nick knows I love art. For our proposal, he set up a surprise art show for me at a friend’s restaurant. Nick had a friend invite me to the art show and when I showed up – I was surprised to see all of my family and friends there! All the art there was also created by Nick. Each piece of art there was created by him to symbolize different parts of our relationship. For each art piece, there was also a verse of a beautiful poem he wrote for me. The very last piece of art was a photo of us both and the last verse of the poem read, “Nadia, Will You Marry Me?”.
