How We Met

Jordan and I met in St. Augustine, FL where we both go to physical therapy school at the University of St. Augustine. We met at Cinco De Mayo party for our class and immediately sparked conversation thanks to our mutual love for college football. Jordan was a student athletic trainer at the University of Tennessee and I was a student athletic trainer at the University of South Carolina (Go Cocks!). Our teacher told us on the first day of anatomy class that people would fall in love in our class and to go ahead and do it now because next term we would all smell like cadaver lab (gross I know). Sitting by Jordan as our teacher said that I kind of laughed it off, but little did we know that’s exactly what happened! Fast-forward a year and a half later, now we’re engaged!

how they asked

For Jordan’s second PT internship he was placed in Ogden, Utah for 2 months so we decided to make a road trip out of it over Christmas break. After 3 days of driving through rain, snow and ice thanks to Winter Storm Goliath, we finally made it to Utah. Let me add that his golden retriever, Neyland, also made the trek with us and he was a trooper!

On the second morning we were in Utah, Jordan told me he planned a breakfast at a National Park outside of Salt Lake City that has elk for you to watch while eating. He even sent me a picture of a beautiful resort, but wouldn’t tell me the name of the restaurant. He told me we had to leave at 6am to make it to our reservation on time and that a tram was going to drive us up the mountain to the resort. I was so pumped for elk watching with a mimosa in hand, BUT it was all a rouse to get me up bright and early and to the proposal spot during sunrise!

We made it to the mountain spot where he planned to propose with a hidden photographer and asked for us to go look at the lake. Being a typical southerner, I tried to refuse to walk through the snow because I didn’t want my feet to get cold before breakfast. Eventually he talked me into walking through a foot of snow and I decided if I ran to the bottom the faster I could get back in the car. Once we got to the bottom towards the lake, Jordan immediately told me we weren’t going to breakfast. At this point, I knew exactly what was about to happen. Jordan told me how much he loved me and how excited he was to start our life together, of course I said yes! The weather was a little foggy at the time so after he proposed we waited around to watch the sunrise and it was breathtaking. Jordan picked a beautiful spot at Deer Creek Island resort covered by snow and surrounded by mountains that made for the perfect proposal memory!

In case anyone is wondering, I did get a delicious post-proposal breakfast just not with elk.
