Joe and I met while living downtown Orlando and both working in the same hospital. About 2 years later for my medical school graduation, we took a trip to Greece. As the days began to pass during our trip, I planned a night for us to watch the sunset in a town called Oia in Santorini. I put on a dress and he quickly told me to change in to hiking clothes, and told me we were going hiking that evening. Assuming he was very confused, I stuck to my outfit and informed him there was no where to hike in the town we were going to. When we got to Oia, he continued to be adamant about hiking. He pointed off into the far distance, “There, we are going to hike up there”. I could barely make out a small white dot atop a mountain in the distance. Frustrated, but willing to be spontaneous, I agreed. Needless to say I got many strange looks hiking in my maxi-dress and sandals. Once we finally reached the top, the warm sunset glow was bathing the white cliff sides of island as the blues in the sea sparkled. It was a view worth a million words. As I was snapping a few photos, I felt a tap on my side and turned to see a sight I will never forget- Joe down on one knee with a smile that said it all. A moment that you cannot describe, yet a moment that just felt so right.
