How We Met
It was my first day at a new branch (I was a bank manager ) and I was worried I wouldn’t like it, it was a much smaller location then I was used to but it was my chance to be run my own location. It was the middle of the day and I was standing at the drive-through window helping one of the tellers with a transaction when I felt the urge to turn around. There he was, I still remember where he was standing and what he was wearing as well as what I was wearing. I casually walked over with my best professional smile and kindly introduced myself, “Hi! I’m Monique, I’m the new manager here” and he smiled. Turns out Zach was also a manager, but two doors down at 24 Hour Fitness. Took Zach about 5 months to every ask me out but we didn’t have our first official date until 2 months after that but clearly, it was worth the wait.
how they asked
Being from northern California I’m a huge San Francisco’s Giants fan and being the lover of baseball that I am it’s natural for me to love Spring Training over in AZ, in fact, I’d been trying to get someone to go with me for years! Little did I know he had plans for our 2 year anniversary. After making plans to spend the night at a local resort to us but “canceling” the night before I was very upset that night on the way to dinner.
As we were driving towards dinner Zach asked me to get a paper out of the glovebox for him, saying he “needed the number from it”, once I open the glovebox I pulled out tickets to Spring training in AZ! – I was no longer upset. About 3 weeks later we flew to Scottsdale for our first ever Spring Training game where he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. Needless to say, all diamonds have a special place in my heart.
