How We Met
In May 2011, I was at a friend’s house. We were on her Facebook page and she was chatting with one of her guy friends. That guy friend happened to be Michael. I decided to start Facebook chatting with him too but when I told him I was leaving my friend’s house, he wanted to continue the conversation so he asked for my number. We talked every day from the time we woke up until the time we went to bed. We even would stay up on the phone until six in the morning. On June 10, Michael decided to ask me to be his girlfriend. I was overjoyed with excitement and instantly said, “YES!”
how they asked
This past May, I decided that I wanted to take a trip to Florida. I really love Disney so I thought what could be more perfect than going to Disney World with my boyfriend. Michael’s parents and siblings live there so I figured it would be a great time to go visit them. We bought our plane tickets three weeks before we left and booked our Disney tickets to the Magic Kingdom. I could not be more excited and little did I know, Michael had a plan of his own. When we arrived in Florida, we spent the day with his parents at their home. Nothing had seemed unusual. We had plans to go to the Magic Kingdom the next day, which we were both so excited for. Mike’s sister bought us t-shirts that said: “His Beauty” and “Her Beast”, to which she told us to wear the shirts the day we went to the Magic Kingdom but I didn’t know why. When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom, we were instantly hit by a rainstorm. We weren’t gonna let it ruin the morning though. We went on so many rides and even did photo ops with characters.
We decided to watch the Festival of Fantasy parade which started at 3:00. Around 2, we decided to grab an ice cream (Mickey shaped, of course). I brought Michael to the hub grass, which faced the castle. There also happened to be a show going on at the same time. We sat there for a little bit and Michael kept saying that he wanted to take a picture since there was a photographer walking through the lawn.
When we got up to take our picture, I gave my phone to the photographer, while Michael put his bag down. The photographer said, “Hurry! Hurry! The fireworks are about to go off!” I decided to do my usual pose, but when I didn’t see Michael next to me, I turned around to find him on his knee. He had the perfect ring in his hand and instantly said, “Will you marry me?”. I jumped and screamed and quickly said “YES!”. The photographer quickly snapped photos of us and we then headed towards the parade. I called my mom first, breaking out into tears, and then my best friend, Amanda. We watched the parade and the met up with my cousin Melissa who worked at Disney. We had an amazing rest of the night and even got to watch the fireworks spectacular up close.
