How We Met: I was a senior at Brigham Young University-Idaho, and was President of the school’s chapter of PRSSA (The Public Relations Student Society of America). I traveled across the country to attend a Regional conference for the society in Chicago. While I was there, I attended a professional networking mixer at Starbucks and met Jake. He was a junior at Utah Valley a university and a member of PRSSA as well. We networked, exchanged business cards and followed each other on Twitter. A few months later, I had graduated and moved to Chicago for my career, and he messaged me on Facebook to ask for ‘career advice’. We began dating long distance between Utah and Chicago.
how they asked: I flew into Chicago to spend Valentine’s Day weekend with Jake in Utah. At this point, long distance was really beginning to put a strain on us. I landed and texted him to let him know I would see him shortly. When I walked down the stairs, I saw him waiting there with my favorite cupcake (only found in Utah) and a rose. I hugged him and gave him a quick kiss and he told me he had something for me, and then he dropped down on one knee. Crowds around us in the airport cheered, but I barely heard them! I was so happy to see him after 8 weeks, let alone confirm I was spending the rest of my life with him!
