Molly and Chris's Engagement in Austin, TX

How We Met

Chris and I met in Austin, TX in March 2014. We were both working out of a co-working shared space for separate companies, when he walked in one day holding a 4 month old puppy. I went up to him to say hello and pet the pup, and sent a picture of him to my best friend with the caption jokingly saying “look at my boyfriend holding a puppy”. Little did I know, we would be getting engaged three years later.

Since we both work in the creative field, I gave him my business card saying we should connect about work things one day. After running into him all over Austin, he finally emailed me to set up a coffee meeting. I changed it to a 5:00 beer “meeting” and we’ve spent almost every day together ever since.

Our relationship has been beautiful and adventure-filled, taking us all over the world from the Grand Canyon to Iceland. We’ll be getting married in April 2019 in Austin, complete with hip-hop music, family, friends, and a lot of tequila.

Molly's Proposal in Austin, TX

how they asked

Chris told me we were going to happy hour with his co-workers at 6. I planned on a pre-happy hour with my best gals at 4:30. While we were at Licha’s Cantina in Austin having a margarita, my friend Britton walked in holding a huge video rig. I ran up to him and said what are you doing here!? He lifted the camera up and said, “I’m here for you.” When I turned around, my best friend handed me a beautifully designed card that said “Clue One.”

This launched the best day of my life. I was sent on a scavenger hunt around Austin to the place we met, the coffee shop we had our first date, where we had our first kiss, and then to Zilker Park for the proposal. And then to top it off, to Parlor & Yard, a bar on West 6th Street, for a surprise engagement party, where my family had flown in from CA and NY to celebrate with us, along with our closest friends.

I could spend hours describing how amazing of a day this way. The planning and detail that had gone into the evening are amazing. Luckily, we have a beautiful video of the whole thing :)
