how we met
Alan and I have known each other since we were 12 years old. We went to school together and in high school we were friends with all the same people. We were good friends before we ever started dating, in fact, Alan was in the ‘friend zone’ for a while before I gave him a chance.
We were sitting around a bonfire the first time Alan asked me for a date, and since then we’ve got a special place in our hearts for bonfires (and s’mores!) We’ve been together since we were 16, and things have changed a lot, but we’ve always been best friends.
how they asked
We both love decorating for Christmas and all the other holiday traditions. So we usually spend one day decorating and watching Christmas movies. This year Alan took me out to my favorite breakfast place to start out and gave me a gorgeous Christmas bouquet. We got home and put on Miracle on 34th Street and started decorating the tree. When we had one ornament left he insisted it needed to go on the very top. He made me climb up on a chair and place it on the tree- but when I turned around he was down on one knee with a ring. I was completely caught off guard! He told me I was his best friend and asked if I would marry him. I said yes, of course!
