How They Asked
Throughout their 4+ year relationship, Miriam had often mentioned that she wanted her family and friends to be there at her engagement. I took this to heart and organized a “proposal party” that was to take place immediately after I proposed. But, as the COVID-19 pandemic worsened with each passing day, I came to realize that his plan would not come to fruition. I wanted to stick with my original date of March 22, 2020, because I just couldn’t wait any longer. I quickly devised a new plan in Ocean City, where Miriam spends her cherished summers with her family.
Amidst a sinking sun, at Fager’s Island–one of our favorite spots–I got down on one knee and proposed to Miriam. While my family and our friends were not there due to the pandemic, Miriam’s immediate family was there to capture the moment and celebrate! Additionally, Miriam’s sister had compiled a video of congratulatory messages from our close family and friends, who were unable to attend, as an alternative way of fulfilling Miriam’s engagement wish!
