How We Met
We knew one another through working at Tri State but I don’t know that we ever really even had a full conversation while we were both working there. Julio had switched jobs and I hadn’t seen or heard from him in a year or so. One day out of the blue I got a Facebook message asking if I’d remembered him and how I was doing. Most people who know me know I’m not good about replying to messages or texts, especially at that time in my life. For whatever reason I immediately replied back to his texts and it didn’t take long for me to realize he was just what I needed at that point in time. After a week or so of talking non stop he finally came over to watch a movie, I remember him sitting all the way on the other end of sectional as far away from me as he possibly could. That was the beginning of a long, long journey that got us to where we are now. We’ve been through many struggles, heart ache, fun times, and great memories. 4 years after our journey began, God inserted himself into Julio’s heart and our relationship at the most needed, unexpected time. I know without a doubt God is the sole reason we are have made it to this wonderful place in our lives and our relationship. God is amazing and has blessed us beyond imaginable.
how they asked
He caught me completely off guard! (I later found out he had attempted to make a few other completely amazing attempts) We had a family photo session scheduled for three weeks or so. The day of the shoot he contacted our photographer and let her know he’d had a ring for four or five months and he wanted to propose during pictures. Our photographer separated us and the boys and as she was taking our pictures her assistant had the boys all set up with a sign behind us… I had no idea any of this was going on just a few feet away from us! The photographer told us to look at the boys for pictures and I immediately seen a sign in Blake’s hand! I squinted to read what it said and was elated when I read “Will you marry our daddy?” ! I tuned around so fast to see Julio down on one knee with a huge smile and a ring! I burst into tears and hugged him! I was shaking so bad and was so lost in the moment and I have no idea what words he even spoke to me! Blake was doing all he could do not to cry, nervously laughing and yelling “group hug!” My heart immediately felt like it never has before! The first week of our engagement I kept waking up expecting it to have been a dream! I mean how could someone pull off such a perfect moment and even manage to include our two boys in it!? I have pictures that I will forever cherish of the most amazing, loving, and thoughtful gesture anyone has ever made to me! We still giggle every time we say “fiancé”, we are so excited to finally marry one another!
