Mike and Paige
How We Met
We met when two mutual friends set us up on a double date with them. We went putt-putt golfing and have been together ever since. We have the same interests that we can enjoy doing together. (camping, travel). We are both family oriented and each of our families loves the other. We are laid back and very easy going. We love to hang out at home and watch movies or play video games. We understand each other’s own hobbies and spend time doing what the other likes.
Paige- After several months of dating, I knew I loved Mike. But the moment when I truly knew he was the one for me was one night shortly before our one year anniversary. I have insomnia so I was up after he had already fallen asleep. I was listening to music trying to fall asleep and I looked over at him sleeping so peacefully. Watching his face as he slept I realized that I never wanted to stop watching him. I knew that he was the other man I ever wanted to watch sleep and I just knew one day I wanted to marry him.
Mike- After about a year of dating, I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I didn’t have one single moment where I knew, but rather it slowly became a realization that she was the one for me.
how they asked
We had season passes to Busch Gardens and we decided to take a weekend trip to Tampa. We went to the park one day and Treasure Island the next. We spent the entire day at the beach, even fell asleep on the sand. We walked the shore looking for seashells and shopping at the little shops along the way. When it was close to the sunset we sat on a bench to watch. On either side of us, a little way down the beach, there were two different weddings taking place. We watched as two couples tied the knot while the sun was setting. Right as the sun was hitting the horizon I (Paige) turned and saw Mike get down on one knee.
“Shut up” were the first words out of my mouth. I was taken by complete surprise. He went on to say how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. By the time he asked me to marry him we both had tears running down our cheeks. I said yes and jumped up to hug him. We cried and laughed, kissed and hugged for a few minutes.
We enjoyed the view and embraced each other fully. After a while, we headed back to our car to go back to the hotel and called all of our parents and close friends. (although he already told every single one of them!) They were all excited for us to start this new chapter of our lives together.
