How We Met
Haley and I met at a taekwondo class that our boys were in together. We would just share a glance at first. After seeing each other week after week we eventually started making small talk. I was very nervous and awkward for the majority of the encounters. After time we began to speak and have actual conversations. After a number of months I mustered up the ambition to ask her to come to my house for a home cooked meal. I had everything I needed to wine and dine her, dinner, wine, romantic music. However, there was one major hiccup to my plan…since I had been living like a bachelor I didn’t have a wine opener. I ended up having to improvise with a screw driver and a pair of pliers. It was a huge fail, wine sprayed all over. To my disbelief she thought I was very charming and we didn’t skip a beat after that.
how they asked
Fast forward two years, I decided it was time to take the next step. Haley and I had decided to take an end of summer vacation to Colorado. This seemed like the perfect place to pop the question. After spending some time online, I found Travis and with his help I was able to plan one of the most unforgettable moments of my life! I wanted us to be somewhat alone and as high up in the mountains as possible, without getting incredibly winded from the elevation.Travis scouted a few locations for me and I liked North Star Mountain, just a few miles south of Breckenridge, CO. I was expecting to have a Jeep as a rental car as this plan involved us traveling up the side of a mountain. Instead I was given a Fiat. The Fiat got Haley and I to the spot. Travis had pink tape along the trail, so I knew where to walk. He left a water bottle at the spot he wanted us and I dropped down on to one knee to ask her to marry me. She said yes and I have the photos to prove it.
Haley and I are now back home with our 4 boys (Jack, Owen, Sam, and Noah) and planning for the big day in between soccer practices and football games. It was very important to be able to share the moments of our trip and engagement with them and that wouldn’t have happened without our hidden camera man.
