How We Met: Though we both had to be convinced initially to sign up, Kory and I met on eHarmony. After several emails back and forth, we decided to meet in person which ended up being at a random volleyball open gym night (that being the first meeting in and of itself was major brownie points in my book). After a few more sporty dates like that we had what we consider to be our first “real date” that turned into a 2 hour walk on the beach followed by sushi. Everything about us just fit perfectly together from the start and felt so incredibly easy. Although we are both very analytic people and never pictured ourselves falling fast, it didn’t take long for us to know we were going to be together forever. And six months later he proposed!
how they asked: To propose, Kory planned out an entire day for me to be spent with the people that mean the most to me and involved their help in making me feel like the most special, most loved woman on the planet. He had all of my friends write letters to me that were affirming and encouraging and shared in the excitement of the significance of what this day would mean for me. It all started with a note in the morning telling me that this was the day and it all began with my roommate making me breakfast. She and I reminisced about the journey of starting online dating together that ultimately led to us both finding our future husbands. She gave me the first letter of many I would receive that day as well as the next note from Kory that included instructions to be prepared to Skype. I got to video chat with a friend and then my sister and brother in law who live out of state and they got to be a part of the day as well, also reading letters that they had written. There were 3 more stops throughout the day where I got to spend time with my family and my dearest friends all reading these incredibly kind letters to me, reminding me over and over again how blessed I am to have family and friends who care so much and got to share in the joy of the day with me. My family (who had come from out of town just for the day) were the last stop and they took me to a beautiful park where Kory was waiting, with a picnic set up, photographers hiding to capture the moment, and flowers all along the path to where he was waiting. After receiving notes throughout the day from him about reasons he loves me and is looking forward to our lives together, and hours of the anticipation building for me, he didn’t waste any time and got down on a knee almost immediately after I finally reached him to pop the question. Each part of the day was so well thought out and planned in a way that reflected what is important to both of us and made me even more thrilled to spend the rest of our lives together.
