Michelle and Sean

How We Met

Sean and I had a mutual friend that kept his group of friends apart for years. After five years, we all ended up at the same place one evening and we finally met. In the beginning, it was a chapter straight out of an Aziz Ansari skit on dating. “Hard to get” games that eventually led to being inseparable. Guess we both lost at that, but ended up winning any way because here we are!

how they asked

Sean had a sports related injury that required surgery and then of course, recovery. We did not expect the recovery process to be that long and painful. It kept us from doing the things we loved like taking spin classes or running along the east river. Sean worked tirelessly at his knee and wanted to make sure that he could bend his knee to a 90 degree angle again some day. That day came sooner than I had expected.

It was the first nice day of the year. After a long and cold winter (for many reasons), the sun was out and it was warmer than it had been for the last few weeks. We decided to go for a walk and eventually grab burgers at our favorite place. He felt great and was up for a stroll in Central Park. Little did I know that we had paparazzi following us on a route that Sean had pre-planned that led us to where he proposed. On top of a rock in Central Park, he got down on that knee and the rest is history.

*By the way, those burgers never happened. I eventually forgave him as he had an incredible dinner planned.
