how they asked
We were delayed at JFK for 4 hours. After a long night of being delayed in the airport, we finally arrived in Venice, Italy on August 3, 2017. We took a water taxi from the Venice airport to our hotel NH Collection. We checked into the hotel and went up to our room. I was surprised with flower petals in the shape of a heart on our bed, heart balloons, a bottle of champagne, and chocolates as well as a card. Jeff told me that the reason the room was decorated was because we were celebrating our anniversary early.
Since I was jet lagged, I had no clue that he was trying to mislead me with his story. After a few minutes of refreshing ourselves, we began to venture out to see all that Venice had to offer. We just began to walk around and enjoy the ambiance. We wandered over to the Rialto Bridge and then soon ended up at a another bridge called the Via Della Regina. Jeff handed me a envelope and told me to open it. He hurried me and said to start walking ahead of him. He lagged behind to ask someone to take a picture of us on the bridge which I later found out was actually a video of the proposal. By the time I got to the bridge Jeff was right behind me and when I finished reading the card, he got down on one knee he asked me to marry him.
Of course without any hesitation I said yes. Along with being jet lagged, I handed Jeff my right hand to put the ring on instead of my left. We later took more pictures at the bridge and even noticed people put locks with their names on it. We decided to buy a lock and sign it and put the date on it so that a part of us is always in Venice, Italy. And as they say the rest is history and our love story continues.
