How We Met
Michael and I met my Senior year of Highschool and his Freshman year of college. Michael was roommates with one of my best friends boyfriend at this time. They went the Marywood University in Scranton, Pa. My high school used their gym as our home court for Basketball. They came to meet us for the game and according to Michael he knew he wanted to be with him, he laughs because at first, I didn’t even remember that was our first meeting. A few month later we met again and Michael says that from that day and still today his heart started beating a whole lot faster. We were in a friends garage and just stopped by to say hello, that night Michael friended me on Facebook. I didn’t see him for some time after that. I started my Freshman year of college nearby at the University of Scranton, and that’s where our story really starts.
Michael and I started texting and I never thought of him as more than just someone to talk to. My friends wanted to kill me because they all knew how amazing he was even then. You see it was my first time living away from home and I was terrified and so unsure of everything I was doing. I had a lot of sleepless nights. So Michael started to call me before bed and he would tell me stories to help me fall asleep, mostly they were stories about love and how the girl had no idea the boy existed at first, and then after I would fall asleep he would stay on the phone to make sure if I woke up I’d know he was still there. This went on for some time and then our friends who were dating broke up. And I thought there was no way I could possibly do that to her. But she knew he was special and told me that it was okay. Michael asked me to be his girlfriend on 10/23/10.
how they asked
Michael and I both knew very quickly that we wanted to grow old together and share in all of life’s ups and downs. We were never in too big of a hurry because we had each other and that’s all that mattered to us. But now Michael had become a Philadelphia police officer and I always worried and our schedules never worked out that we were off on the same days. He was in Philly and I was in Scranton (I went back to school for another degree) and we didn’t see each other as often as we wanted. So after 6 years of telling each other “one day”, which had become our motto and our promise to each other, he proposed. It was storybook magical! He proposed where we had our first day and where we celebrated every anniversary, our, 6th would be no different, he had the restaurant open up on a Sunday and we can’t thank them enough still!
Michael made a video and made me watch it and I cried and I laughed and I was filled with so much love and so many butterflies! Then he asked me those four words and the butterflies were gone, I second guess everything I do but Michael he’s the only thing I’ve ever been sure about. Then Michael brought in my parents, his parents, his siblings, all of my best friends, and even my oldest friend who lives in Florida and just a month before she told me she was pregnant and my heart was so full it could’ve burst!
Michael does so much for me on a daily basis even when I can’t be with him. We’re now together 7.5 years and are getting married this October and I can’t wait to marry my best friend and soul mate!
