How We Met
We met through mutual friends. My best buddy from school’s wife had a best girlfriend at her school. We were studying for finals one day and he asked if I would be interested in meeting his wife’s best friend/school colleague for a blind date. I had never been on a blind date and neither had Mena. So taking a leap of faith I said sure lets do it. We chose to go to the Penthouse restaurant in Santa Monica. When Mena showed up she took my breath away. Immediately I thought she was way out of my league. She was genuine, funny and intelligent. I was nervous and talked A LOT. Somehow my goofy humor and sincerity worked. We just clicked. After the first half hour it was easy to talk to her because she is a good listener. We ended the date with a hug and I secured a coveted second date. SUCCESS!
how they asked
I had always been taken back by the beauty of Big Sur. But one location, in particular, really looked heavenly. I decided right then and there that I wanted to propose at Pfeiffer Beach “Golden Door”. I wanted it all to be perfect so I started planning. I got us a fancy hotel and dinner reservations at Sierra Mar. But I didn’t want to do the traditional ask during dinner. So I decided I wanted to use the natural beauty of Big Sur to make it extra special and have a beach proposal. I reached out to you to plan a magnificent beach proposal/picnic at sunset. We walked down the beach and I waited for it to clear then I went for it. She said YES! We had an audience because the beach was packed.
There was loud clapping and congratulations from the beachgoers. Mena was crying as were girls in the audience. She said it was a magical unforgettably perfect moment. We then enjoyed some delicious sweets and bubbly while watching the sunset on the horizon.
