How We Met
Riley and I met on a hinge, one of the many dating apps out there. By the time I got around to responding to his message and ask him out for a drink, he was leaving Milwaukee and wouldn’t be moving back for another 2 months. We both decided to continue talking and got to know each other from a distance for 5 weeks before he came back and we had our first official date. Our first date was a good one, but what really got my attention was when we met up at the Kenny Chesney concert the next night and he was in head to toe camo with an American flag bandana on (a stark difference from the button-down and dark jeans the night before). He was cute, funny charming, and confident enough to wear that kind of outfit in public, knew he was a keeper.
How They Asked
We were in Phoenix for a long weekend with some friends, and doing one of our favorite things, going to a county concert. We spent the weekend hiking and enjoying the sun. On the last day of our trip, when some of our friends had already left, we decided to hike camelback. When we got to the top, we were posing for a photo and he dropped down on one knee.
It was perfect, we even had a bottle of champagne thanks to Riley’s friend Connor biked up 2700 ft. One of my friends with us had secretly hired a photographer to hike up 30 minutes before we did to capture the moment, a really beautiful gift and surprise to both of us.
