how we met
Alex and I met at the end of 2012 – I was a couple months into my last year of undergrad and recently joined a plant molecular biology lab to pursue my Master’s degree. A couple of guys in the lab hosted a party at their apartment and I was reluctant to go because the one girl I knew in the lab had bailed on going last minute. I decided to go so that I can get to know my lab-mates better and immediately Alex caught my eye because I had not seen him in the lab before. Turned out that he was the roommate of the guys I worked with!
how they asked
We got engaged in the vineyards at South Coast Winery in Temecula, CA. Because we both had to work the 4th of July holiday, Alex booked a beautiful villa at South Coast for the weekend after the holiday for us to enjoy. We went for a walk in the vineyard near our villa and on our way back, I found a photo album filled with photos of us on the ground and he got down on one knee and proposed! We had talked about getting engaged that year but the actual day was still a surprise because I thought that he had booked the weekend villa spontaneously – little did I know he had it booked months in advance :)
