How We Met
Eric and I met on Eharmony. I had just gotten out of a terrible relationship, and wanted a new start. I was very young (only 19 at the time), but I wanted to find someone who was looking for the same things I was looking for. I knew that a dating website would have people who were serious, and wanted to be in a healthy relationship like I did.
We started emailing each other, and after 4 days of emailing back and fourth, we decided to go to dinner and meet. We talked at dinner for over an hour, and then we decided to walk around and talk a bit more. We spent 2 hours together talking and walking around. We talked about everything from work and school to our families.
It was an amazing night. I went home to my parents and told them that Eric was the most amazing person I had ever met. We saw each other every day for 4 days before we officially were boyfriend and girlfriend. Almost 5 years later, we are engaged, and planning our wedding! I couldn’t be happier, and he is still the most amazing person I have ever met.
how they asked
I work as a preschool teacher, and we had a night staff meeting. One of my coworkers had shared that for one of her university classes, she had to read a children’s book and record the reaction that people would get out of the book. She didn’t want to read it, so she handed the book to my coworker, who said she didn’t want to read it. She then handed me the book to read, which I was excited about because reading children’s books is one of my favorite things to do. As she handed me the book, I realized what it was. I had seen the cover photo on Eric’s phone before, so when I saw it, I started to get nervous. I read the book anyway. As I started to read the book, I realized it was about our relationship and our life together as a couple. At one point, I had to stop reading the book because I was crying too much to read it, so another coworker sitting next to me read the book as I watched her read it. When Eric walked in to the classroom to propose to me, he asked if he could finish the book, which included his proposal speech to me.
He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said yes. My coworkers were crying and congratulated us on our engagement. It was a beautiful moment, and Eric wrote and illustrated the book that I read during the proposal!
