How We Met
We both volunteered as Senior High Youth Group leaders at our church. I was originally from Ottawa, and planning to return home summer 2014. Ben somehow convinced me to stay in London to play on our church baseball team. We are both from big baseball families, but he had no idea I would be able to play! We got to know each other pretty well, and it was hard to resist his quick sense of humour. He asked me on a date, where we happened to end up at a ball diamond playing catch. He slowly earned my heart and my trust, and has never stopped proving his love for me since.

He surprised me by renting our city’s baseball Stadium for the night, Labatt Park. He opened my car door and told me, “you have to see this!” He took my hand and lead me to a path of candles and I noticed a red rose sitting in the middle of the entrance; a classic Ben giveaway. As we entered the stadium, under the bright lights, The Girl by City & Colour played over the speakers. He prayed for us, lead me out to first base, and we walked around the bases. By home plate, our hearts pounding and eyes watering, he picked up the ring and got down on one knee to ask me the most beautiful question he could ask.
As soon as I said yes, BOTH of our families (he had mine drive up to surprise me!) and some close friends started to pour out onto the field one by one. We sat on blankets on the field, ate cake/snacks, popped champagne, opened gifts, and to top it all off, we got to play some catch… just like our first date.
