How We Met
Jared and I met in Morgantown, WV – His hometown and the home of my college. He had already began his career a few years before we met, but I was still dragging through my last year of college. After our first date, Jared seemed like a great guy, but I just assumed we wouldn’t see each other again. I was coming back to college after a semester off due to a serious brain surgery and he was a basic adult working as a mechanical engineer and designing things I had never heard of before. So, he wasn’t on my list of priorities at the time! He tried, time and time again to get us out on another date. After turning him down a few times, he gave me one last try that October. He was heading to the Preston County Fair and wanted me to tag along. “Not right now, I’m working on some homework but maybe next time,” was my response. To him, this clearly meant that I was sitting in my pjs watching Netflix. Rude assumption!! (But okay…he was right..) Jared nonchalantly said, “Okay, that’s fine. So, I’ll be there in a few minutes. Get dressed.” And that’s the beginning to our story! After that evening at the Preston County Fair, I fell head over heels for Jared Wilson and we haven’t spent a second apart since then.
how they asked
On my birthday, we decided to take a random trip to Baltimore….well, what I thought was a random trip. We loved traveling together and this was our first time stepping foot in Baltimore so we were super excited when we started googling things to do and see. As jared got the trip plans set up and we were packing to go, I made sure to sign us up for a historic ghost tour on Saturday evening. It sounded like a fun thing to do and could show us a lot that we wouldn’t see on a normal tourist day. Friday and Saturday afternoon were full of random adventures through places like the National Aquarium and watching roadside flame throwers at the Inner Harbor. As the day rolled around, we got dressed for an early dinner to give us plenty of time to stroll over to the Ghost Tour. After dinner, I was really confused when Jared found other places he wanted to sight-see before our tour. I was getting nervous when I thought we weren’t going to have enough time to make it over there! He was dragging me into different stores and then decided to go see Federal Hill? Who needs to see a Hill when you already have plans??? Before I knew it, jared was walking way too fast and was dragging me by the arm down the Inner Harbor to a strip of benches in front of the river. When he finally slowed down and I looked up, I saw a row of balloons sitting in front of a tree that spelled out “Marry Me”… at that point I was lost and figured it was someone else’s proposal that we were going to laugh about. Nope. I was wrong. It was mine!! He slowly pulled me over to the balloons and got down on one knee… by this time. I was hysterically laughing and crying at the same time. And I don’t really remember much after that because I was in such a shock and floating on cloud 9! But thankfully there was even a photographer there to catch it all. And no… sadly, we never made it to the ghost tour..
