How We Met
So I give all the credits to our amazing God. He had a perfect hand in every single part of our relationship. The first time we met was in a college internship at Church of the Highlands. Our first conversation started off with me asking to borrow money for a book I needed for small group. And my oh my did he catch my eye. Soon after that I asked him to attend my sorority formal with me, and we jokingly took this picture acting as we had gotten engaged. Only knowing each other for a few days, we immediately clicked. The Lord gave us a powerful and Christ centered friendship. As time went on we both grew feelings for each other. With a lot of prayer and patience, he asked me to be his girlfriend. From Friday night game nights to leading small groups together, we have enjoyed every single minute of serving the Lord together. This love I have for him is undeniably from Christ Jesus, and I thank God every day for the man of God he has placed in my life.
how they asked
It was just a normal July 4th with my family at the beach. We recently got a black lab puppy, so that day we took him to play on the beach, and enjoy some relaxation with my family. We had been planning to go to church at 6:00pm down on the beach. We enjoyed a wonderful service and worship. As soon as that ended we had to go “pick up my little brother from a friends house.” Well as the plan progressed, we decided to take a walk on the beach because the sun was setting. As soon as we took a few steps, Dylan looked at me and grabbed my hands. He asked to pray over me. That prayer was one of the most powerful and beautiful prayers I had ever experienced. The Lord was so present on the beach with us. Dylan had been writing me letters since the first day we met, and the week before we left for the beach I received a letter every single day. He expresses his love for me in such meaningful ways. After he prayed over me, he asked to read me the final letter. It was filled with funny memories, encouraging words, trails, victories, Jesus, and an abundance of love and passion for each other.
His hands were trembling and tears started swelling in his eyes. He pulled out a box and got down on one knee. All I remember was falling down with him in sobbing, joyful tears. I was in so much shock. It was truly one of the most spiritual moments I have ever experienced. As I turned down the beach, my mom, dad, and little brother were in tears waiting to congratulate me. And the surprise didn’t end at that, he had an engagement party planned with friends and family. My dreams were merely nothing compared to what I experienced on July 2, 2017. The Lord is so faithful. This love I have for Dylan is only from a love that Jesus has instilled in me. He is love and He is in me and I in Him. “Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:7 This is the day that marks forever together. A new season filled with so much growth and wisdom. I can’t wait to grow old with the man of my dreams and serve Jesus every step of the way.
