Megan and Connor
How We Met
We first met in Highschool, in 2007. We were never that close through high school, but we hung out in the same groups. Having graduated high school, we had one mutual friend that was close with both of us. In 2011, when Connor and our mutual friend moved in together, we became close as well, and 6 years later, here we are, about to be married with many goals and adventures ahead of us!
how they asked
We were backpacking around Europe, a trip that we had been planning for atleast a year, probably more. I suspected that Connor would pop the question, because before we left on our trip, we were visiting my parents and Connors behaviour was weird, he was acting nervous and shy, which is very un like him, so I knew something was up. On our last day of visiting with my parents, he turns to me and says “I want to ask your parents for their blessing but I just don’t know how to do it!” that explained the weird behaviour. We had been talking about marriage for quite some time, knowing that we were going to be together forever, so him asking my parents for their blessing was not a huge shock. But this was my clue that it would happen on our trip, I just didn’t know when, or even for sure!
It did happen as I suspected! On may 1st, our adventure had let us to this small mountain town in Switzerland, Zermatt. Its the home of the Matterhorn mountain. We spend our first day hiking as far up the mountain as we could and adventuring all around. I had it in the back of my mind that this might be the moment. We both share a passion for hiking and trekking, we always have our best talks, goal planning and talking about the future when we are hiking. But as the day came to a close, he did not ask, which I was not disappointed about because it was just the most perfect day, I was glad that we could have had that day as a memory of what it was instead of the proposal.
The next morning, as I was in my hostel bunk, Connor comes snuggling up to my and that is when he asked. It was the most perfect moment for us. Just the two of us in a hostel in Zermatt, so big gesture or people around the take away from the moment. Just the two of us. We spent that day wondering around the town, drinking champagne, eating Lindor chocolate (my favourite) and just being together.
