Megan and Chris
How We Met
I was pretty much done with dating. I was entering my last year of grad school and had decided to focus on my studies and forget about boys for a moment. A week before school started I was studying at a near by coffee shop when my best friend sent me a text with a picture and asked, “do you think this guy is cute? My mom wants to set you up with him.” His name was Chris and he lived close by. My best friends mom worked with his dad and had known each other for 30 years. His dad was telling my friends Mom how his son was having a hard time meeting “a nice girl”. My friends mom instantly thought of me and asked my best friend if I was still single. I definitely was. Within a couple of hours, our numbers had been exchanged and I received the first (of many) text message from Chris. He told me he was working late, but he would call me the next day and he thanked me for “going out on a limb to meet new people”. The next day, he called me as he said he would. We talked for quite awhile and we made plans to go on our first date the next day. We met at a restaurant (and he actually made reservations!) and enjoyed a fun night together. The rest is history!
how they asked
It was a typical Thursday morning and I was supposed to work. Little did I know, my boyfriend had other plans for me. I got a call early in the morning from my work saying they didn’t need me that day. I am a nurse and if our census is low it is possible to get called off. My boyfriend just so happened to not have to work this day as well. We were so excited to have a great day date together. I went to the gym and when I came home, he told me had bought tickets to see a movie at 530 at a near by movie theatre. We decided to spend the day together and got lunch, did some shopping, and we even got our nails done! I never suspected a thing. We arrived at the movie theatre and he had reserved the front row couch. The movie had already started, so we sat down and started watching the movie. After a couple minutes, he excused himself to go to the bathroom and I kept watching the movie. After another minute or so, the movie suddenly turned off and there was a count down, 5,4,3,2,1. The first shot that came back on the screen was his dinner table and then showed him sitting at the table. The rest of the movie was from his perspective but every single one of our close friends and family each had a line to make up the entire speech. At the end of the “movie”, the lights turned on and he came walking down the aisle in a suite, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. There were then Cheers coming from the upper balcony and as I started to recognize faces, I realized they were all our friends and family. We all shared a champagne toast (after about 30 straight minutes of ugly crying) and then headed back to his house and walked into our engagement party! It was the most perfect proposal I could have ever imagined!!
